Digital media as in…? Graphic design? Writing? My partner is in the arts and many people we know (including my partner!) do not have degrees and are very successful. The trick is just doing the work — freelance, build a book, then apply and ignore the ask for BA candidates only. Shouldn’t be an issue if he can speak to his skill more practically.
Offer to create work for real businesses (might have to be unpaid or super cheap). Put that on his portfolio website and resume. Don’t disclose that it was done for free or low, market it as real experience done as a part-time contractor. Apply for internships. Ideally, he’d go back to finish out his bachelors as that’s a requirement to get in at many big companies. It will be pretty much impossible to get a entry level full time position without any experience.
Thank you for the advice!!! Most appreciated!

Start building a portfolio. Network hard to get projects. Get a variety - social media, video editing, presentation design- to start out with so he can figure out if he wants to specialize in something. Most freelance projects come from word of mouth so I’d suggest he put himself out there for opportunities and actively reach out to folks (such as owners of small or local marketing firms to see if they need an extra set of hands)
