My wife and I both have pretty intense jobs with long hours and we have multiple young kids. Looking into a full-time nanny but we really need someone for 55hr/week. Nannies around here seem to be fetching $25+/hr so the annual cost is astronomical ($70k+). What are folks in similar situations doing and how much is it costing you? Any advice would be much appreciated.

$70k actually seems like a reasonable salary to me for dedicated 55hrs/week of childcare. Daycare for 50 hours may be a bit less but they do cap you at 10 hour days.

like

…we’re paying $70k a year, and just thankful we can find someone to do it. Good luck finding someone for 55hrs 50 is usually where folks top out. It sucks but that’s honestly the cost of kids if you want to keep two parents in high intensity jobs😉

From a pure financial standpoint you are still ahead.

au pair maybe

like

We used to have au pairs but they can’t work 55 hours per week and we no longer have an extra bedroom for them

We’ve done a Nanny share with friends nearby… although if you have several kids yourself this may not be feasible

Yes unfortunately not feasible in our situation

Full-time combined with nanny for additional coverage

Not sure I understand can you please elaborate?

Sorry I meant full-time daycare combined with a part-time nanny

Find a good cleaner who you can train to be a nanny. Cuts the hourly in half

I’m hosting family from America in my home in Europe this week. Being away for just a couple of years has made me really aware of American tendencies. They’re fat and literally are only always thinking of their next meal. We can eat, and they want to talk about dinner. They always complain about their knees and feet even though they’re also only in their mid thirties. I’ve decided to no longer host friends/family from America because it’s always like this 🤦🏼‍♂️ 🫃🏼

A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees. The relative wants to know her chances of prevailing if she were to appear in court on this issue. Thoughts? Thanks!

Has anyone else talked to a doctor about stress while trying to conceive? I’ve been having a really hard time wanting a baby for the way my husband and I have been arguing or talking to each other. I think we should go to counseling. I know I love him and I know he loves me- there’s just so much animosity so much anxiety around discussions. Do you think our anxiety or tension is because we have not been able to conceive?

Is there anyone living in Mumbai that could help me? Long story short: I’ve a cousin who we suspect is being catfished. He is too invested and refuses to believe. We have “courier address” that he has sent gifts to, to this girl and phone number. She has never shown her face. I’m hoping someone can just go check out the address for me. I don’t know anyone in Mumbai so hoping someone here can help.

Have you ever been or currently in a relationship with someone of who’s political beliefs conflict with your own?

Not dealing with this currently have dealt with it in the past. My parents started out opposites but now believe similarly. I’m wondering if it is possible in this day and age.

Just taking the opportunity to get current. Sober 3 years and 10 months. This past couple weeks have been stressful and my mind slipped into fantasizing about my drug of choice. Last week I flipped out at some of my wife's family. I did an amends and I think time will heal this one. It's all up to HP. Although I have neglected my morning practice this week, I'm practicing self compassion with positive self talk.

*URGENT JOB NEEDED* - BDM/E-com account management roles
Hey all, as I see a lot of recruiters in this group I wanted to know if anyone is hiring for BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER or E-COM ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT or VENDOR MANAGEMENT roles.
My husband is relentlessly trying to get a job in Canada/US but he is getting either regret mails or no response for referrals.
It would be really helpful if there is anyone is hiring for such roles or if you can refer to those roles in your organization. TIA :)
