Unsubscribe from this bowl. Not a dad yet 😂
Some actual ideas:
Tactical:
Nursery setup
Procure a SNOO. Expensive but when your kid cracks off 8+ hours at 2-3 months you’ll thank me
Mentally prepare yourself for the nesting phase
Take the hospital tour/class. Prepare to watch videos you don’t really want to watch. And also learn where to park.
Self care:
Take some longer weekends or trips while you can
Check if your insurance covers prenatal massages at chiropractor - and use them. Made a huge difference for my wife
Go out to dinner. If she’s uncomfortable, order in and enjoy each other
Some of my friends have a diaper poker game for soon to be new dads- super fun. Normal poker, plus everyone brings a sack of diapers.
Don’t rely on sleep crutches: snoo, sound machine, etc. you’ll pay later.
Too many kids can’t sleep without a sound machine or heaven forbid it goes off in the middle of the night. Teach your kid how to sleep!
Enjoy yourselves, take a deep breath and relax. I was nervous before my daughter was born, once she came it all went away.
When baby comes you do you, for what works with you and your wife. Don’t worry about what other people say other than your doctor. Expensive is lent always better we used a small fan for white noise and it worked well
Sleep while you can
Babymoon! So much more difficult to make time for your relationship once baby OP arrives
I went to the firehouse to make sure I had installed the car seat correctly. Most people get it wrong (apparently), and the firefighters can show you all the little considerations you might miss. For instance, I didn’t think about the umbrella in my backseat being a missile in the case of an accident...
Sleep, sex, vacations, date nights!!!
So true!!!
Date nights before the baby!
It was also helpful for us to stock up on household items so we didn’t need to think about things we needed (we could focus on the baby) - paper towels, toilet paper, dreft, detergent, dish soap, cleaning supplies
