Rising Star
IBM’s tradeoff is better promotion increases, but worse (non-existent) yearly increases/bonuses. It’s not uncommon for an UG hire to go from 75k to 150k in 3-4 years.
Rising Star
IBM is what you make of it, there are a near infinite amount of opportunities if you take the initiative, but most people don’t. They also tend to be the most vocal group on this app.
Yeah that’s almost double mine 😂😂😂
Which city?
Washington DC. Promotion was end of January (precovid I suppose)
Typical. I was at IBM back in 2014 starting was 72k promotion was to 97k. Considering the inflation I’d say they’re cheaping out ;)
Guidehouse used to be PwC public sector and so I switched firms. Was able to get a clearance and started working exclusively with one federal agency. Eventually my client approached with with a FTE position and I took it.
Your career salary will be much lower than commercial consulting, but there’s 0 travel and the work is basically staff aug. on the federal side as an FTE you can get up to 33% of the average top 5 years income as a pension after you put in somewhere between 20-30 years. Right now the top of the GS scale is at 168k and SES is at around 180-200.
For civil service there’s also incentives for getting certifications, which the government will pay for. For someone like me that doesn’t have any certifications, I can go out and get a PMP on the governments dime and I can get a 15% pay bonus for 3 years.
Not a bad bargain I’d say.
