@s&1 bcg def does hire laterally from industry both engineering and strategy types. Especially at associate, consultant, and project leader levels. All practices industries and functional areas, since bcg doesn't make you specialize till far down the road (generalist mentality)
What about PwC makes you sick? Why would you attempt MBB if you're not even enjoying your PwC experience?
Excellent point E1, was thinking same thing hahah. And OP, anything is possible. There are about a hundred permutation and combinations for ending up in MBB. They don't bar people from industry. It all just depends on what you bring on the table
Dunno, do McK or BCG hire laterally from the industry? If so, at what level, into what level and which practice? Point is, if they hire into their functional groups, internal strategy (aka 9-5 ppt monkey) doesn't give you any useful skills you might not have at pwc now.
That answers my question. Most, if not all my peeps at BCG (PL & Principals) are either homegrown or lateral hires from other consulting firms (mostly Booz and McK)
You all should come to the public sector! I work from 8-5 and no weekends! It's been like that for 3 years!
Could get an MBA
I'd say just retire and smoke pot
All good options, thanks for the feedback. I am definitely enjoying consulting, but have been let down the last ~9 months with projects. Being a good soldier, not going to complain because staffed / tough climate at firm, but miss smaller teams, more senior audience (e.g., C-suite driven rather than SBU) and more strategic impact. Not a quick fix, but feel like industry role would get me some of that back and want the option to move (imagine laterally) back to consulting if I want down the line
May get an MBA
