OP :- if you think you can be Manager in 1-2 years in current job, I would recommend to stick to it. Coming as consultant will take you at least 5-6 years to become M in Deloitte

Leave it. If it has put you off, that's a sign

Get the manager title, then look around if the shoe still pinches where you currently are

What is the career progression at your firm? Just don't look at the manager position because it may mean SC somewhere else or likewise. Compare how much time will it take you to reach the top at the current firm vs at deloitte.

Second A1. Especially if you have to take a pay cut ... this "option" is as good as none

Thanks all - going to forget it

Let them come to you, always better off in the negotiating table that they came to you than vice verse

like

Don't leave. Get to manager then leave. If u do SC you will lose 2-3 yrs in career. Suck it up and leave once you've made mgr. not before.

like

Regardless of titles, look at culture and business style of the two firms. If you're happy where you are, stay. If you like Deloitte, consider it. The money at Deloitte is more based on performance relative to peers / expectations at level, so coming in as a Consultant where you may be a little overqualified just means you'll kill it, make more money, and so on. If you stretch for a role level over your head, you'll flounder, not be staffed, and exit badly.

like

Push back. They'll cave and give you SC

Feedback after first interview was that I am a better fit for a consultant position than senior consultant, based on my years of experience and was offered a second interview if I was okay with this. I completely understand them wanting to put me in at this level, as I don't have that many years work experience, but have a very strong network where I am and have performed very well so am progressing quickly.
I came back with a few questions on expected time to progress and also asked for a salary range for the position (bit premature I know), as I am currently on significantly more than info I have suggests they pay their consultants and would not be looking to take a pay cut and then spend 4 years getting to manager.
Haven't heard back - this was 5 days ago now, I have basically written it off, the only thing that is making me think I might still get the interview is that the hiring person has been consistently slow to respond over the past month or so that she has been in touch with me.

So question is - should I send a follow up and ask the status? Or just leave it. TBH the whole process has put me off so not feeling that keen to make the switch, though can't say I wouldn't like the option.

Ergh that post is so long! Sorry in advance 😬
