If you’ve negotiated once and you’re honestly gonna be okay with it, I would accept it. It’s critical you give them your highest number first (realistic one) and then the talk begins on the ‘why pay you more’. If you’re not happy with the number, I’d ask ‘what else could be done to sweeten the pot for you-diplomatically’.
IF you don’t like the number and it’ll put you in a bad situation-be prepared to walk away.
Depending on the size of the org, you don’t want to position yourself as the nickel and dime manager…
Don’t negotiate the second time after they’ve already accepted your number
So, I spoke to the recruiter negotiated for $XXX base, told him about being compensated through a signing bonus for losing my current company bonus.
Got an email yesterday from recruiter saying we are working on your case, and will shortly have a word with you and then after that send you the formal offer letter..
Today, I get an email from the partner - he wants to have a quick 5-10mins to discuss about the opportunity that is in progress..
what can I expect ?
