New attorney feeling overwhelmed my second week! A bunch of cases need pleadings and I am getting emails every few minutes and lots of things I have to do immediately. I am not great at switching tasks every few minutes. Am I just going to have to work very late every evening to find uninterrupted time to work on research and bigger pleadings? Worried litigation is always juggling a million balls and terrified of dropping any.

This is how you feel as a new attorney everywhere. You don't know what you don't know. Be willing to learn. Its gonna suck but just don't blow SJ deadlines.

Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. I’m trying to better understand any pain points or challenges you might face with utilization/enrollment. Anyone interested in connecting? Thank you!

It’s Friday night at midnight and I just got out of work. I am new to FPP defense. So far it’s soul crushing. I feel like a robot just doing the same pattern pleadings and discovery over and over. If I try to be creative or ask questions I get the response that I should not recreate the wheel… basically just cut and paste. My brain feels like it’s going to rot doing this work. Does it get better or do I need to plan my exit to a different field ASAP?

I worked FT as a paralegal and went to law school in the evening. I recently interviewed at a small ID firm in employment law with about 9 attorneys. They asked for a writing sample. I dont have anything recent but provided what I had from last yr in a legal writing class, it was not enough for them. I became licensed this May so I dont have an array of motions to pick from. Then they asked for my undergrad transcript, at this point, I am now annoyed They are not Biglaw. Are they going overboard

I am a fourth year attorney and am on track to be partner of a small but well established ID firm in 2-3 years. Our bread and butter is ID but I have the freedom to take on any matters I like.

I do not want to be doing ID forever but I really don’t know what comes next. What other similar but more advanced (and better paying) fields of defense litigation are out there? Is the next type of civil defense litigation just going out and being hired by private companies?

Newly barred attorney here! Considering a position at a small firm that represents corporations in claims against insurance companies. I love litigation but have never considered insurance litigation. Any advice?
