I really hope your IQ>EQ
Oof. Judging by your post and the sentiment indicated by your language in this post, your EQ is low. If your IQ is not higher than that then honestly, you’re in a bad place. Perhaps some self reflection and awareness training will help. I know I ripped on you earlier on, but I really think you might want to take a look at why people have been picking you apart in this thread. If you get to the root of that and transform it I promise it will help you in the long term.
“Hey guys, complement my salary and ask me how I did it”
With that comp, my guess is E5 Facebook
Idk about others, but I really don’t like posts like these...maybe it’s the Monday’s speaking to me.

OP, you're only making $180k after 2 years? Not sure how your firm hopes to retain talent when I'm making $250k after 2 years, surely no one would accept a lesser salary than that
How does any company retain anyone when I was able to sell my startup for billions without even finishing college??
80K and 100K aren’t exactly low salaries just a few years out of undergrad either
EY4, “your peepee is not big enough” really got me 😂😂
Okay but if you truly have friends that are making this baller money, lmk. I need to learn more!
if a lot of that is RSUs, it’s probably vesting over a few years? Which means part of that is funny money, until it’s not. Unless you’re only claiming what you actually convert to cash this year? I get a ton of RSUs from Accenture - I don’t talk about them as if they are real money. My big grant has a five year vest cliff, before which they are worth nothing.
Also, it’s data science which is the hottest niche field out there right now. So comparing your salary to the average of your former peers at Big4 is pretty dumb, esp for a guy that analyzes things for a living.....
You’re 2 years out of undergrad making 180K?
Whomst MD is correct.
I don’t understand how you have 2 yoe and are making 180k. Do you live in a HCOL area? What service line were you in?
Yeah RSUs are essentially quarterly paychecks. They get taxed the same, you can cash out immediately
How can big tech hope to compete with pro sports? An early round NFL draft pick can make millions of dollars two years out of school.
OP, I am reading your post again, what was the purpose of this post? What did you hope to get out of it? Are you looking to mentor people? If not, I don’t see how your post is beneficial.
Honestly this is helpful but what are you leaving out? If you’re not leaving anything out then tell me how I can do what you’re doing.
BCG1, the same can be said for cracking MBB. It’s tough but you did it right?
All these numbers are great and all, but let me see a paystub.
That’s child’s play. I make 1000 million 1 month out of undergrad. AMA pls
What is the name of the company you work at? And yeah duh big 4 pay is crap and I'm not joking. All this pride in low pay at big 4 is dumb
All that, but still in the consulting bowl 🤣
What type of firm did you move to?
You were so excited to say this
What your educational background. I’m also a data scientist at a b4
There are kids just out of undergrad in CS making them much.
Well the most obvious answer here is that you’re being paid 180k because you have a BS and MS in Comp Sci. You’re working a data science job. Anyone working DS with a masters in CS is almost expected to have a comp of 180k...
So why the hell are you comparing it to consulting? The consulting job isn’t in providing the kind of value you do in DS with those credentials.... it’s an entirely different field, requirements, potential, everything. There is no value case in paying consulting analysts that much... clearly you learned nothing during your time in consulting?
Sounds like you just wanted to flex your new 180k offer... anyhow, congrats to you! That’s an awesome salary
As someone who went from consulting to tech while in undergrad (internships) I agree with the point op is making but do not agree with the tone/bragging approach. Consulting is a pipe dream for several college students especially those from lower income backgrounds who aren’t as exposed to career paths (speaking from experience on this), and its still a fantastic career to enable socioeconomic mobility. That being said, yeah I think with the rise of tech, consulting does need to revisit comp structure if they want to capture talent that cross pollinates with tech (but this talent overlap is not that large to be fair).
Also for people bashing on OP including RSUs/stock - a lot of tech does those quarterly/annually so imo they’re in the right to include them.
