Yes. But also, abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. You have to carefully monitor your diet and track your macros, and should avoid things like alcohol. And if you want to achieve it naturally it’s probably going to take a couple of years of steady work. It can also just depend on your genetics.
I prefer pizza.
Lol that was not obvious. Thanks!
I have had exactly the same issue for the past five years. Three months ago I changed gyms and the trainers have a BIG focus on nutrition - they encourage us to use my fitness pal to track calories and over the past 3 months I’ve lost 5 kg of fat (about 6-7% of my body weight) and am finally really proud of my body.
Things to do:
1. Book a session with a PT / nutritionist and get them to set you a calorie target that will put you in a 500 calorie deficit per day (I.e. you consume 500 fewer calories than you burn). This will allow you to steadily lose fat while not burning muscle / feeling too hungry.
2. Download my fitness pal and track everything you eat and drink (after a week or so you’ll start to work out roughly how many cals in each type of food so you can stop tracking everything, just new stuff).
Stop eating / drinking each day once you reach tour maximum. If you have a blowout evening where you eat pizza and drink ten beers, just reduce the calories you eat the next day so that you stay on track.
Don’t worry too much about sugar / fat etc. - as long as you are sticking within your calorie budget you will get leaner.
3. Find some low calorie alternatives to your favourite foods which will make this easier. Love ice cream? Get a low calorie version so you can still have a bowl every night. Love pancakes? Get low calorie maple syrup so you can still have them every weekend.
4. Be proud of your new body.

A lot of the insta gay bodies are fueled by the use of roids, so don’t use them a goal. If someone seems too ripped and too perfect, be weary about steroids.
Oh girl. I got opinions on this. I'm in great shape for 36 years old with strong muscle development and I look good and feel good. Ultimately, that's what should matter to you: your health. I'm sure you look great compared to the boys on the Gram.
At the risk of sounding like a jerk -- I always felt like a lot of them spent every single waking moment at the gym to maintain their physiques. I know several of these guys and many do not drink or do so sparingly. They just do party drugs like Molly and G. This probably helps reduce the empty calories they would be consuming via beer or vodka Red bulls.
They also eat a pretty regimented diet and from what I've seen and heard they also may fast a bit before going to a resort or something like that.
It's really important to understand that Instagram is not always reality. Just because they have a beautiful body does not mean that they have all their shit figured out, are financially stable, have a steady job, or have a modest living situation.
I'm not shaming them. I'm just saying that we need to be very careful about Instagram reality vs. Actual reality.
I'm sure you're a catch and look great. That's what matters in the end. ❤️❤️
A few acquaintances I know are instagays and I’ve repeatedly heard them talk about their steroid journey. And then at parties, they’re pretty open about using G as a replacement for alcohol to get drunk, and are super cautious about what they eat. I don’t think the trade off is worth it imo; they’re constantly talking about their fitness routine and it almost replaces thier personality

Am I the only one who thinks this is kinda sad and weird. No judgement tho, live your best life tho
Hey! So have what you’d consider an “instagay” body but not the instagay personality.
For me, I’d been working out for years, and I finally saw results when I hired a personal trainer who helped me target my macros and customized my workouts. It’s grueling for half a year (especially when I was traveling weekly for work), but once you make it into a habit and are disciplined, your fitness goals are totally doable.
I’d echo what others have said- eating healthy, cutting alcohol, and being consistent make a huge difference.
All that being said, make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons. At the end of the day, you should do it to make yourself healthier and happier. Happy to chat more in dm if you have questions
What are macros?

Why do we aspire to have the “insta gay body?”
Rising Star
Because we’re caught in a toxic feedback loop of demanding it from each other. No longer good enough to have a sense of humor, a nice smile, and a good job. No, you also have to have the body of someone whose literal job it is to monitor their nutrition and work out all the time. Oh yes, and you have to be well traveled, well read, cultured, and have good taste and at least one artistic talent.
And then we all delude ourselves that we deserve this mythical person.
Eating is the biggest factor! I only started to see real changes when I really got conscious esp. about my carb intake
Also not sure if anyone read this article on roid use— I thought was really interesting about how it’s impacted gay men (both cis and non cis).

A lot more guys than you would think are at least on testosterone replacement therapy if not more potent stuff and in most major cities there seems to be these TRT clinics run by gay doctors that are essentially shilling roids legally.
