Bain & Company Can someone recommend a good starting point on how to go around solving case interviews? What frameworks should I follow? I am kinda new to case interview and want to develop skills to solve them. Any books, online sources would be really appreciable. Second that tax tech is much better than compliance. I’m getting into that field too.
Can you elaborate on what Tech Tax is? I've been in compliance and I'm starting to get bored of it.
A lot of automation is done regardless of which group you are in. That being said there is a tax automation group on the direct tax side.
As far as exit opportunities, both sides of the service line have excellent options from my understanding. You get all the benefits of working at Deloitte as an accountant while also outpacing other accountants in technology skills. I think overall it gives you more opportunities because you can leave for tech roles instead of just other accounting or finance roles
This looks great! Thanks for sharing. I am considering going into a Tech path after my CPA is done next month. Maybe in the future I could be a candidate since I worked in Tax before: 3 years and loved it. Going to Fund Accounting helped me get my CPA & credits because no busy season. Thanks!
Sort of new here and don’t have access to DMs, but I’ve been thinking of transferring to tech. I’m a TC II in the International Tax team up for promotion to senior. Is there any other way I can get in contact with you?
Yeah dm me! I’ll say I’m a relatively new staff so I’m not sure how much I can help but I can try
I m interested

Bdo has similar positions. Called Tax Automation and Innovation.
Let me know if anyone interested.
I only have experience in Tax Compliance, and limited experience in Tax Provision. Definitely no experience in the softwares you mentioned. Do you know if these skills are an absolute must know before I can apply? Or can I be trained? I'm currently a SA, but I think I might get a lower position due to this.

What skills are needed from tax seniors? As far as applications and systems to know to be more “hireable”. Yeah made it up.
Each position is different since our team is split up into two big groups and then many subgroups.
I just wrote a little bit about this above as a reply to another comment so check that out, but a working knowledge of a direct tax software like corptax or onesource is probably what they are looking for at minimum on the direct tax side. On the other wise they look for experience in SAP, Oracle, or any cloud expertise. Hope this helps!
What is the estimated base salary for S2 in New York/ Chicago/ Boston/DC ?
Maybe 125? I don’t live in a tier 1 city so I’m shooting from the hip a bit there.
Which group are you in?
I added some comments to other questions on this thread that answer this question so take a peak at those if you’re still interested. CSG is the direct tax side
Do you have to be from tax?
For sure not. We have people from audit, CS, mathematics, law, and other financial services backgrounds.
How does the travel look like?
You probably won’t travel if you don’t want too. I’ll say there is some variability. I know some people that travel at least a week a month and others than haven’t traveled once in years
Just joined Dtt FSI recently . Is it possible to transfer to the TMC? I mentioned this to my coach who I work 80% of the time. But he does not seem like want me to go and change the subject during our conversation. Lol
Thx, that’s very helpful!
Are there remote positions? And flexibility? Or is it full-time /in-office only?
The positions aren’t listed as fully remote but they basically are. Maybe these days you can get it into the contract but I know before they wouldn’t say fully remote because they still want some people to travel to clients on occasion. There’s no requirement to go into the office tho but of course they encourage it
How many hours would you say you work per week on average? Also, what kind of tech work is it exactly?
I’ll say I’m a relatively new staff so I’ll answer with what my senior does. He bills about 42-45 a week right now probably has another handful of hours doing admin stuff. My understanding is that’s pretty standard year round unless you get staffed onto a terrible project or have a major screw up on a project.
Would this be a good fit for someone with only audit and AAS experience? What kind of tech work does this role entail?
It is definitely more difficult to get in without any tax experience, but it is far from impossible. Check the replies I just posted to some other commenters as far as what the tech work entails.
My experience is mostly in individual tax. Would I have any luck here?
