Nice try HR

You are behind the 8 ball OP. You’re worth so much more than they pay. Go get paid 10k more at the other big 4 firm for a year or two before your salary normalizes… or if you’re actually all that (which you aren’t) stick around and make partner and you’ll get paid…
Focus on determining service line culture rather than firm culture when networking. These firms are way too big, so it varies significantly from group to group as you've likely noticed at Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler.
Completely agree^^

EY is decent culture wise

Such as? I'm comped pretty well tbh
None. Kpmg is the only one that wakes up at 5pm and go to school then find out people are all gone. And Kpmg does not care about it and just go home and play ps5. Thats the culture here. No one cares to be at least big3
Watchu talkin bout willis
Get a competing offer and KPMG will match. Just lost a solid recruit this way 😔
Don’t know what EYP is like personally but suspect EY is closest. Problem is, the folks I know from EYP left because they thought it was relatively toxic. The strategy partners in Life Sciences are doing awesome and most came from EYP, so maybe it’s an industry thing. Deloitte and S& are different, I hear. The culture is pretty tough to beat, and as an SA, you got plenty of catch-up time. Plus, it’s very likely Carol will bump you guys pretty nicely to make sure there’s no attrition for the ones we want to keep. Talk to your PML. EYP isn’t EY as I understand it.
Former EY
I worked at both KPMG and Deloitte.
1- CULTURE: KPMG wins.
2- PAY: Deloitte is better.
3- CAREER: Deloitte hands down.

Why do you have to leave?
What was your TC?
10% pay bump is not worth the loss of WLB, network, and needing to start over to rebuild yourself at another firm. Why would you risk your happiness for 10%?
I’m biased. I am a retired commercial partner. I found government work administratively cumbersome with huge lead times but the projects tended to be large and created advancement opportunities for the team. It’s a different business model and practice than commercial. Maybe slower paced, but I don’t know for sure. I had no desire to work on government projects and wouldn’t want to do it for less $. I also have no knowledge of any comp differences between the practices. One other consideration is that it seems to be successful in fed vs commercial you need to live or spend a lot more time in and around the DC/mid-Atlantic area (if we ever get back to significant onsite interaction with clients again). You can be successful doing Commerical in any geo. Take this with a grain of salt since I did not work in the Fed or state/local government practices and only had occasional interactions with those practices/projects.
