Fed blows. Go commercial
Doesn’t hurt to try. Though with 3 years I’m thinking $90k flat is the best you’ll likely get. Especially C level in federal
OP should also keep in mind that while you will generally make more money in commercial, you will also have to work more hours. Whether or not it’s worth the trade off depends on what OP values more. Personally, I prefer the work life balance.
Federal = 40-45 hours vs 90k
Commercial = 50-60 hours vs 100k
It all depends on how you will fit within the rate card. I’m unsure what the D hourly rate is for folks at your level; however, rates typically support a salary range, with folks at the high and low end of the range having similar rates
I would go commercial. Commercial pays a lot more, that 90 would be closer to 100
I work 60-70 hours a week in federal. 40-45 on client. Everything else on PRD
D1, disagree. It is all about what you do and how you manage it. Federal billing rates are lower to compete with other companies and firms for government contracts as a result they pay less. Also federal tend not to travel, another reason they pay less (that said if you don’t want to travel, this is a perk). I work 45 a week in commercial and have a work life balance. Sure it gets hectic at times but that is everywhere, even federal.
I got 100K 1 year experience industry no certs commercial tho, and yes I work like 60hours opposed to flat 45
You can get a better offer elsewhere
