If you try to hold onto your seat, you are gonna get beat.
You guys realize you are describing the oversold bidding system that DL has been using for at least a couple years, right?
SC1 - love the idea. Start at $1300 ( or whatever the max allowed by law is) and let passengers bid each other down. Kind of genius.
'Hide yo kids, hide yo wife, they draggin e'er body up in here'
Talk some simple logic into the people freaking out. United isn't going to do the same thing again in less than a week.
Volunteer or get dragged off. Those are apparently the only 2 options according to the media.
Never underestimate what UA is capable of
Does any airline have a reverse bidding system built into app? Would make it quite interesting.
United can do it. They did told a person that he would be handcuffed and taken down the plane if he did not abide. Read it somewhere this morning only
I feel like I need to stand on a chair like those gospel speakin people and calm the sea. Meanwhile I'm like damn I wish I had 5 seats on this plane. Gimme all da money.
D2 ...or will they?
D3 That guy was downgraded due to aircraft change but his boarding pass didn't update, likely through computer error. He's making it out to be much worse than it is.
EY1 - had no idea. Never fly delta.
Lol. 225 a pittance for a couple hr delay? Easy money. Just roll up to the bar, expense lunch, work there, and pocket the cash.
Avoid the new 'drag and drop' feature
Keep your phone out! Lol
$225 could actually be the max required amount for involuntary denied boarding if the reaccommodated flight would arrive between 1-2 hours of the originally scheduled flight (ORD-MSY is showing roughly $117 right now). It's 200% of fare price up to $675 for rebooked flight arriving 1-2 hours after and 400% of fare up to $1350 for arriving >2 hours after original flight.
They should probably consider giving their gate agents more flexibility to exceed the federally required amounts though -- in this case the required amount is clearly a pittance
THERES SNAKES ON THE PLANE ?!
It would be funny to have a ventriloquist in a situation like that. 'They are calling the cops, oh shit!!' It would be hilarious
Heard UA max without additional approval is north of $1,000, but regional partner team did not have the knowledge of process, nor empowerment to make it happen. Could have ended so much differently.
