Not all Partner titles are the same. A Partner who has equity share in the firm is a minority owner — all other “Partners” are just employees.
If you plan on being an employee, there are options at other firms, industry or start ups you can potentially pursue.
If you want to have equity, you are most likely to be a lifer. The longer you stay the more shares you get and highest the opportunity cost of leaving. Some partnerships have very good retirement plans that corporation struggle to match.
Neither of those is FU money in Canada - 20 years are equity partner might get you close.
Any ideas on what income partners get in their package? You don’t get equity so is it not the same as director with higher targets?
It is a transition spot from Director to Equity. Show us what you can do.
There isn't a single defined path here
-Be a "normal" partner and sell/deliver projects.
-Take on managerial responsibilities and even move into the firms executive team
-Start your own practice either solo or with a small group of partners
-Get a senior management position in industry
