Our office is either a full-blown sauna or a meat locker. There is absolutely no middle ground. Every day turns into a climate war: people hoarding space heaters, others cracking windows in January, and everyone pretending this is normal for a workplace full of adults. It’s hilarious until you’re trying to draft something important while slowly freezing to death. I can’t believe temperature control is the hill we’re all dying on, but here we are. Why does HVAC turn grown professionals into rival factions?

Our winter policy is that the office should be slightly cool in the winter, and that people who are cold can wear sweaters.

It's a problem that feeds itself because when you turn a heater on near a thermostat, the thermostat kicks off because it thinks the area is at the correct temperature, so no more heat is coming out of the furnace anymore. So the heater people are ruining it for everyone else.

I’m surprised heaters are allowed. I haven’t worked anywhere in the last 30 years that has

Temperature control… and everything else it seems. People will always find something

We have space heaters in every office, central heating/cooling, and a mini-split in our conference room. When my boss was cold this last week, the heat was turned up to 78⁰. Fortunately, everyone in my office likes it warm. The receptionist and everyone who works on the bottom floor usually have their space heaters on. I go back and forth turning mine off and will occasionally have a tropical sauna vibe. My boss is totally concerned with our comfort. Comfortable employees are more productive. Can you have an electric blanket?

This is not my wheelhouse so I’m not sure of the answer. If someone is writing a “memoir” and is including me in it, and I DONT want to be in the book, do I have any legal recourse? I understand since it’s been published it doesn’t meet any invasion of privacy or potential defamation yet, but is there something I can do preliminarily to protect myself and stop my inclusion?
