Outside of financial implications, is there any plausible reason for accountants to be forced into the office 5 days a week? I personally think hybrid arrangements with 2-3 days in the office is more than enough.

Control. There are also tons of people who posted themselves not working on social media that got clipped and put on boomer media like Fox and CNBC that made leadership think no one was doing anything.

This! While some of us where busting our btts off, others were too busy posting about them doing nothing. That mixed with greed and need to micromanage from some leaderthisp, and there you have it. Even though data and studies show that the overall productivity increased, ( No distractions at the breakroom, no unnecessary meetings that last forever, no time wasted on commutes etc)

like

Nope. I get asking for 2-3 days/week. I really do see the training and networking benefit of being in the same physical space as other people, both that you work directly with and those you don't. But flexibility is paramount in this business, and many of us work better without distractions, and can get more done without commute time. Hybrid is the answer.

@D1 I have a small apartment and the my desk/screen set up takes up so much space and kills any aesthetic I’m trying to go for. The only part of the hybrid model I dislike (but that’s really nothing to complain about).

I was a big fan of hybrid for a long time, and resisted the full time return to the office…. until I actually did it. Having everyone at the office during business hours is more productive, and I actually unplug when I leave instead of feeling obligated to always be online. Separating home from office has been a mental relief for me.

I’ve been fully remote for about ten years now. The key to not returning to the office is to simply not return. So far so good.

Because the boss said so. Period. Now get your caboose back there or find another job.

Hi all. I can't help but feel that my current 'Digital Managing Partner' job title is a little too niche when it comes to LinkedIn job/resume keyword relevance, particularly outside of a media agency environment. However, a 'Digital Director' title feels too junior and 'Managing Director' maybe a little more senior. Any logical suggestions please? Thanks

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
