Hi Everyone! I have a background in health research. I received my first offer as a ux researcher 3 (1 step below senior) which is pretty competitive compared to my former field. It is with fanduel for 120k base, 6% bonus (8% next year since I’m not starting in jan) , I believe 10% in equity (12.5% next year) total comp 130. First-year associate here. For all those who have lateraled in this market, do you recommend I make the jump to a bigger law firm? I love my partner and enjoy the work, but the compensation is extremely low for comparable mid-size firms. I bill over the minimum billable requirements every month, and I’ve been told I’m a good associate and have good work product. Lately, it’s hard to feel motivated knowing that I’m billing as much as people making double what I make.

A senior partner wrote off a significant amount of my time - due to his write-offs as well as those of another partner, approximately 40% of my 2021 billable hours have been erased. As a result, I will most likely not be eligible for a bonus in 2022. Do I address this with the managing partner of my office? With the partner who wrote off most of my time? Or do I stay silent to preserve what is, on the surface, a good working relationship, as this person could one day serve as a reference for me?

Hi fish, I would love some advice/opinions! I’m on a project where my direct boss and a contractor that I have to work with daily do not get along at all. The other contractor has also made it her mission to have me removed from the project because I don’t have a background in the same industry she does. It’s my birthday in a few minutes. 2021 has been a terrible year for me. My marriage ended. It wasn’t a bad end though. We are still close, just not romantic partners anymore. The very first dog I ever had died and I couldn’t go see her because of the quarantine. I didn’t get a promotion that I more than deserved. I don’t think I get paid well. Most of my friends moved out of the city and I’m having to meet new people at 32. I love my job but it’s incredibly stressful. I’m terribly lonely.
