I was consistently around 70-75 hour weeks at Kearney when I was there (Manager in transformation practice). Left ~1 year ago for a MM fund here in the SE on their Portfolio Ops team. I’m about 65 hours a week here, usually around 8AM - 8PM, with 1-2 nights a week to 10PM. Minimal weekend work.
Sure!
Completely depends
Depends too much to generalize. You take one of these roles for the money and because you are passionate about making companies better. If you’re even thinking about WLB and anything related to PE at the same time you’re a bad fit. Seriously.
I don’t disagree with any of the words in your post but you’re not getting it. I did PE Ops successfully for over five years. It’s not just about the hours or the flexibility. You need to be 100% all in all the time. Maybe you’ll understand when you have to work through Christmas or a vacation or a family event. Or jump on a plane on two hours notice. Good luck to you!
