People of EY, is it true you only have 3 weeks PTO with the rest being sick days? Going to be interviewing for EY advisory but if that's the case it's probably a non starter for me.

At KPMG it's 5 weeks from the start. I think senior managers get 6 weeks. I'm a 2nd year senior associate

like

Instead of buying, I just charge “time off without pay”. This does the same thing as “buying”, in that your salary gets docked by the proportionate days you take.

The only difference, is “buying” spreads the cost out across the year whereas “time off without pay” will deduct from your next paycheck. I prefer the latter because the former is more of a loan to EY (unless you take all your vacation ASAP at the beginning of the year).

Managers get 22 PTO + 3 Personal days + 10 sick/family care days

like

Ummmm. Who’s taking all their PTO and personal days anyways?!

like

EY11 - me

like

How many days do you currently have and what is your level?

like

Managers start with 4 weeks PTO

like

Other considerations for comparability- Labor Day, Memorial Day and 4th of July are all 4 day weekends (this year we got full week of the 4th off, tbd if that repeats)

like

I only care because I like taking 3-4 weeks off for travel so I'm wondering if it'd be possible to combine the 2 so I could potentially take a month off

like

I agree with EY5; it’s very commonly used interchangeably. The only people who care are your direct team, so as long as you are respectful with the team and communicative, nobody I know cares if you’re using your PTO days or your Care days. So yeah essentially it’s 28 days off

like

Oooo that's interesting

like

@EY 11 question should be who wouldn’t? It’s not worth it to let your personal and vacation days expire.

like

Lol. Life is way too short not to take vacation.

like

I always get sick a couple days before and a couple days after a vacation...cough cough.

funny

Plus 3 personal days..

18 days off (Idk why they call it personal days, it’s just so it doesn’t accrue or pay out). And then the 10 days aren’t just sick days, they’re actually quite flexible - I use them for visiting family or grandparents, etc., and nobody on my team has complained yet.

It doesn’t matter what they call them, you get 28 paid days off (15 vacation, 10 personal/family care or “sick", 3 personal). I used them interchangeably. I also have a family so it’s easy to use them without me being sick.

You can also “buy” vacation days. I don’t know how the process works. I’ve never done it but I know others have.

4th of July off was a one time thing! Everostarys with 3weeks of PTO, 3 personal day, 10 sick days! You can buy extra vacation days!

Agree with EY9. Managers get more PTO than staff/seniors. 15 PTO is for staff and seniors

Had my virtual on-site for an S&O L3 role 3.5 weeks ago (NYC, 5 YOE). I haven’t heard back on a decision yet, and was wondering how long it typically takes? I also know that I was one of the very first candidates to interview for this specific role, and there are atleast 2 more people scheduled for onsites. Does the recruiter typically wait for all candidates to finish their onsites before communicating a decision? Or if I haven’t heard back yet, it’s probably a reject?
