People who have been in this field for a longer time than me...do you feel like you've actually been able to effect any kind of change?

Does anyone else constantly get mistaken for a nurse? I get it, I'm 5'4 and Black and work in pediatrics, but the assumption and casual racism is kind of ridiculous when the actual nurse has just told you that the doctor's coming and then I walk in the door. Doesn't really help when I'm one of the only Black on-call physicians. Annoying.

My fiancé will NOT stop talking about her ex. After I found out they were texting arguing she justified it by saying it was about the dogs and not them. Even though Her social media is full of his pics. She still sends him $50 a month for dog food, still goes to work right by his place and suspiciously needs keys. Can the group members please share their experience about the CFE exam? How many days of preparation does it require? What are some of the useful study resources?

I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?

Just began studying for the CFE exam. I have access to past editions of the ACFE Fraud Examiners Manual. Does anyone have recommendations on where to get good practice questions? I’d like to avoid spending a fortune on the ACFE kit.

Working in a large health system as a quality professional WFH. I rarely see anyone else on my team, and when I do present findings I see no changes happening. Maybe they’re happening and I just don’t have a role in that oversight but the motivation to keep going is whittling down to nothing. I have a new employee that started last Monday, unfortunately it’s not going to work out. Long story, but we’re fairly certain the individual is using Meth and appears to have started/restarted fairly recently. I work with physicians, so it’s a consensus. How do I keep my team engaged when I am also struggling to stay motivated?

Our department has had a lot of turnover within the last few months, all of which were from different reasons (school, family issues, opportunities close to home, etc.). It has been a challenge to divide the workload, while still trying to remain flexible and provide a work-life balance.

Anyone familiar with Covid Supplemental Paid Sick Leave in CA? Does having planned time off nullify a full time employee’s ability to use the C19 sick leave if they become sick just prior to the planned time off? (I’ve only been able to find references to eligibility being based off of hours work preceding C19 sick leave - nothing about planned time off)

Hello, I need your advice. I am currently in management in primary care. I have a strong management background in specialty hospital practice management. Recently some leadership positions have become available and I feel as if my leader has discouraged me from applying. His take is that I should take certain steps before applying, however I have the experience from my previous employment in this leadership role. Would I be overstepping to apply anyways ?

I need some advice. I’m the Director for a women’s only RTF. Everyone on site is my direct report, with the exception of the therapists (they report to the Clinical Director). The clinical director is not usually on site, since we have multiple locations, and she is the CD for the entire company.
