I have a fair amount of retail experience and have created a bowl to help fellow consultants who are interviewing in retail and CPG. My experience is across a wide range of topics (primarily non technical) and would love to help folks get their dream job. Would be awesome if others can join and contribute their knowledge.

Bowl Leader
Hi there! Welcome to the Bowl! Excited for this first post. Now on to your question - I can only answer from my personal experience and conversation I had with others.
I left as an experienced senior to join the tech industry. My initial plan was to stick out until manager. With the right opportunity and right raise. I made the decision to jump ship. "Right" to me was definitely the grow opportunity, the learning experience. I was bored with all the compliance and provision work. The new role has all that but has its own CPA firm, so I have more time to explore more on the strategic side. I manage many tax-related projects as they come up, so a lot of new things to learn. There are jobs like you mentioned out there, you just have to make sure to think it through, do research, interview them in detail, understand the role, and ask questions to the interviewers.
BTW, your experience is really good (mix of compliance and provision), exactly the industry need.
The best jump can be any of that you named, it has to be the right jump for YOU. Make sure to get the CPA license before you leave.
Thank you EY! Appreciate the detailed response. That's a good point about seeing if they have a firm to handle all of the compliance and provision s. Definitely want to do more strategic things and research. Interviewed for a few tech places but they both just had a Director, manager, and then would have been me. What's the right fit is what I need to figure out. Have my CPA and want to get some practice with some data manipulation tools. Hopefully if my S1 year doesn't wreck me I'll figure it out. Thanks again and cool to see this bowl started. Hopefully we grow it!
How about tax and finance analyst role?
