Works great for very focused and short audits where the team is dedicating most of their hours to this one project. we usually keep scrums to 15 min/day and included a client rep. The rep could action scheduling issues, missing documentation, scope questions etc. Sped things up in that everyone is accountable to come back the next day with progress

Also helped a lot in scoping audits - we did Agile for helping to build an audit plan/program for a very unique audit where we weren’t sure how to prioritize controls and testing areas

It seems like common sense to me. Adjust audit plan to audit high risk areas and stay away from low risk areas. Not sure people should get kudos for implementing it, but good on them for getting recognition for doing what they should have been doing anyway.

Intl Tax folks, how long did it take before you were confident in your role? I've worked for the past 3 years in a practice that is heavily consulting based (inbound and outbound structuring) and I feel like I'm only just starting to understand the foundational concepts (where I can explain them clearly to clients) and offering a shred of value. Then I'll have calls where partners discuss complex tax, legal, treasury and other related concepts that all go over my head.. it becomes overwhelming

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!

Hello recruiters, happy Monday!

I want to know why recruiters ask me in an interview if I am looking at other opportunities, or if I am interviewing at other companies. If I say yes they will ask at what stage I am.

I just want to know the reason behind it and if there is a right answer to this question!

Additional Posts in Internal Auditing

So I’m probably thinking too much. But I’m looking to leave public accounting and have an opportunity with internal audit. I want to make sure where I go I have good opportunities to advance and if needed be marketable to other companies. Do you think internal audit makes you more or less marketable to other opportunities in the future?

Does anyone work for a large privately held company that is using their IA strategically to identify risks specific to the current pandemic? If so, what company and what are you looking at?

My co's IA dept is very new and my boss has asked me to look into a format for a memo we would write to a process owner to make a process recommendation. Not a formal finding in an audit report but more of a process recommendation. Do other companies have something similar?

I recently transitioned from corporate finance to IA. I have a little bit of downtime. What resources do you recommend to help build my skillset and assist with the transition?

How do people in the IA profession motivate themselves? Personally, I love the fact that we are exposed to different business processes (rather than a specific number or subject matter), also I actually like the fact we are a bit more creative than the typical “in our less than humble opinion we think this number is not too incorrect” approach adopted by our external counterparts.

I’m hiring a global internal auditor. Will pay relo. 15% international trip will be included. Please message me if you are interested in it.

Would it be difficult to get a job in IA if most of my experience has been auditing private non-404 asset mgmt funds? I really enjoy process walkthroughs when I have them though. Also, does title matter that much in IA? I’m a manager now, but based on job descriptions it looks like I might have to go for a senior auditor role because audit manager roles generally call for 8+ years from what I’m seeing. Can title be negotiated?
