Once you’re labeled as the firefighter, its only a matter of time until you’re on a burner project again.
If you can find an opportunity to leave now when you have the time to look & prepare, I’d suggest you do so. Hang in there!
Doesn’t hurt to look! Know that it can be a long process, and stay patient. I might also suggest broadening your horizon so that you have more interviews. Even if it’s not a job you would seriously consider, it can be good practice to get back into interview-shape so that you’re better prepared for your dream job interview. Good luck!!
Now may not be the time to quit, but always be looking. When the right opportunity comes, make the jump.
-Dislike type of engagements that we are doing (there's no real data science in daddy d). Asked to move team and received green light after a year of negotiation. but now got 'postponed' due to covid
-Labelled as one of the firefighter, always put on projects that screwed up and fix them with speed
-raised multiple times on burnouts, took stress leave and coach just tell me this is the nature of D. Accept it and wait to change team.
-all my friends from the same grad cohort has now left, getting 2x what we paid +more interesting work.
I'm actually starting to feel comfortable now because I'm on a easier project and wfh with at least 8 hours of sleep. But not sure if I should start looking for another job.
