The only reason I would think about using Robinhood is if you feel strongly about the IRA match. Otherwise they would be low on my list of brokerage choices
I use Robinhood but I only feel strongly that people hate on Robinhood way too much. Robinhood is fine, the UI is really good in my opinion, it has all the features and it’s SIPC protected. I guess a con could be the GameStop fiasco? Maybe if meme stocks and risky WSB moves are your thing it could lead to trouble? Ultimately you can’t go wrong between Robinhood and Fidelity.
I use Robinhood because of the perks and bonuses they offer. Nothing more. I have an IRA and brokerage account through them. I’m pretty low risk - buy ETFs and hold. I’d do the same thing anywhere I have my accounts so why not take the matches they offer?
I love RH personally. Super easy to use and UD/EX is top notch. They’re also really innovating quickly. Don’t know anything about Fidelity.
Use Vanguard for certain other accounts, but I’m shocked at how slow they are to implement changes. Their website looks like something from 10 years ago. App is useless
I’m a RH person as well.
Most people hate Robinhood because of the GameStop being throttled during the meme rise of stocks.
Most companies got throttled at the same time. It just wasn’t as retail friendly to use.
Robinhood was the game changer when it comes to the common person buying stock. Aka no big fees per buy/sell. I’m tempted to do the IRA thing. But haven’t made the plunge yet
They are supposed to be announcing a new something tomorrow.
They are still pretty nimble. So, I’m hoping it’s a long term solution for me.
Generally prefer Fidelity and think it's a smart choice/tool long-tern. Robinhood has some cool tools, but not enough to sell me on it. You should know if you need to transfer from RH to Fidelity, there's a nominal transfer fee (but you can also call them and get this wiped if you ask nicely)
Have the Robinhood gold card and 3% is game changer along with Ira match. It’s good for now but who knows in 2 years.
