And put your dog away
Yes dogs are awesome but your dog isn’t interviewing and shouldn’t be distracting in the background
I agree, it’s not a good look. But he might have just been REALLY nervous. Doesn’t mean he isn’t good fit for the role per se. Anxiety if so real 😩
Totally understand interview anxiety. Unfortunately, this guy checked his notes for almost every single question. He also didn’t seem like the anxious type - more cocky and didn’t give an F about perceptions than anxious.
Uh why are people referring to notes in an interview? I’ve never had notes to look at. What do the notes even say?
For me it was case work and specific experience I wanted to highlight.
I use my notes to remind myself of specific experiences that was relevant to the interviewer.
I normally have a notepad tab open with a cheat sheet with bullet points on it.
It's comforting to have that fall back rather than having to be entirely off the cuff.
Great tip! When I was interviewing I only pulled up notes once and that was so I could refer to my questions at the end of the interview
I had some notes/questions written down on paper which made it easier to quickly glance at. I have to take notes or I will forget, and thankfully it didn't seem to be an issue.
Agreed. At the end of the day it is a conversation and it should feel that way for the interviewer as well.
Haha there’s a way to do this without making the interviewer feel like you’re shuffling through notes the entire interview. I practice ALOT for interviews but I still get really nervous so having my notes on screen have helped me a lot in my most recent interviews. I can still think on my feet, I’m competent, and I always get rave reviews from my superiors. I just get really nervous while interviewing 🤷🏾♀️

@OP—Is your organization thinking about doing in-person interviews again? To me you can tell so much more. But I guess we all have a different risk tolerance. Though Zoom might be a way to do initial interviews. Then again, anyone who looks at notes as you described in the Zoom context would have probably interviewed terribly live as well.
