ACD1 isn’t aware of how it works. This isn’t a normal freelance situation
Aquent is a 3rd party recruiting company (which are always terrible to work with) and will always rip you off. Unless you’re desperate, avoid 3rd party recruitment companies at all costs.
That said…
You are a full time, W2 employee of Aquent who will “sublease” you to their client that you’ll be working with. Your contract is not with the company/agency client you’ll be assigned to freelance on. Therefore you will not have a standard contract.
Aquent is your employer but only pays you if you are working with an Aquent client for which THEY have the contract with.
They did. 2nd sentence.

There’s always a contract. Even for short term gigs. Not having one is a red flag.
Depending on how big the agency is the email could “serve as the contract” for the time being
At will is normal. We’re all at all.
You’ll prob get an official contract shortly.
If you’re worried it’s not a big enough, legit agency (I.e. will they pay you) proceed w caution.
Ive had lots of contracts be written in an email and followed up on officially later.
