1. Get the referral beforehand, that way you can input that information on the application and the person referring you can actually help you.
2. You’ve reached the point in your career where experience outweighs education. I would focus more on what you’ve achieved in your career. Milestones you’ve hit, goals you’ve exceeded etc. sorry to say that an MBA is now a dime a dozen.

You need to emphasize any job experiences that match up to what the role requires. If you're coming from the outside then there is 0% chance of you getting a senior role with 8 YOE. Find more junior roles, apply to those.
