No work computer thoigh?! That's just dumb. Why would an employer want it's work mixed in with personal

I did get work laptop but not a work phone..agree these are essential gadgets a firm needs to provide I hate work emails intruding my personal phone..

like

Yeah I don’t have either and I think it’s crazy

I guess first let us know if you work from home. If you don’t, why would the company need to provide that? If you do, are you saying they require you to have your own computer/phone?

Yes I work from home and I have to use my personal laptop

I have never worked for anywhere that did not provide a company phone and/or laptop.

…people work for an employer that requires a computer yet does not provide one? Bet that IT Team hates troubleshooting issues with so many configurations to consider…

Anyone else super unimpressed with administrative support with a new firm after lateraling? I told a partner I’d just take care of a routine task myself. He told me my rate is too high and to use a “project manager” (basically an intern they can pay less than a paralegal). We have a 40 person group and 3 project managers making starvation wages. Big firm. You’d know the name.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

Community, I’ve been meeting with a lot of people regarding next steps in my career. One of the best pieces of advice I received is to avoid micro-managing executive staff (agency leadership), as it puts downward and unwelcome pressure on people’s managers and ultimately oneself. Based on your experience in the last 2 years are there:
- Agencies you would steer clear from because their leadership micromanages
- Agencies you would recommend because their leadership gives you room to grow

Thx 🙏🏼
