105k. Had a studio and lived paycheck to paycheck. You don't move to NYC to save money.
That totally depends on your specific lifestyle land circumstances/needs/wants. I know people who've managed to live here on 100k and struggled to live here with 400k.
I'd say the sweet spot is around 135k. At that you can have a decent apt in a good area, save some money, enjoy most things you want in the city (restaurants, shows, shopping, cabs). You'll never be overly comfortable until you're making in the millions but I think that's a tipping point of not having to worry too much.
What's a senior analyst? Advisory?
I have friends that live in NYC on 60k, just need to budget. Also glassdoor will tell you what the average salary is by location
I lived in NYC on 60k in 2010-2011 just fine. Had my own studio too.
Need at least 100k but you'll need to share an apt and it won't be that comfortable
DD1: Advisory.
Looks like I should have asked for more than $80k!
Advisory pays less than consulting at D, so 80k is in the bottom of the C range for us
