I’d suggest doing the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification. Good for people to understand the services available, and not get caught up with the nitty gritty details.
Suggestions on specific certifications or other areas to focus on that may be most beneficial to DS consulting jobs or industry in general? Or are they not worth it without actual experience?
I’m considering this too. A lot of job postings mention cloud experience which I have none
For actually getting a job they are essentially worthless. However if you think you might actually learn useful things then it could be a good idea, won’t help you get a job though
Are there any certs or things you recommend doing during this time that may help? Whether it's specific independent projects or mastering tools. I have Tableau, SQL, Python, R in my belt
Having used the AWS stack at work, I disagree that familiarity with the tools is worthless. AWS Sagemaker for example is becoming a more popular option for deploying and monitoring models in production. If you’ve never done that, I’d suggest looking into AWS sagemaker courses online or the same for GCP or Azure.
