I’d suggest doing the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification. Good for people to understand the services available, and not get caught up with the nitty gritty details.

likehelpful

Suggestions on specific certifications or other areas to focus on that may be most beneficial to DS consulting jobs or industry in general? Or are they not worth it without actual experience?

like

I’m considering this too. A lot of job postings mention cloud experience which I have none

like

For actually getting a job they are essentially worthless. However if you think you might actually learn useful things then it could be a good idea, won’t help you get a job though

like

Are there any certs or things you recommend doing during this time that may help? Whether it's specific independent projects or mastering tools. I have Tableau, SQL, Python, R in my belt

Having used the AWS stack at work, I disagree that familiarity with the tools is worthless. AWS Sagemaker for example is becoming a more popular option for deploying and monitoring models in production. If you’ve never done that, I’d suggest looking into AWS sagemaker courses online or the same for GCP or Azure.

If you’re at B4, would you get any serious consideration at M7s if you tried to matriculate right when you hit the 3 year mark (apply at 2)? I hear that a lot of MBB people do this but the standard timeline for B4 seems to be to matriculate at 4 YOE.

Should I take it because any job is better than nothing or should I keep interviewing & wait for something more aligned with my goals & salary expectations. Hello, I’m an associate (almost at the one year mark) at a midsize firm on the EPL team. I did about 2 years of employment law as a clerk during school and know that’s what I want to go into. I’ve asked for more EPL work but keep catching PI cases. I second-chaired an employment trial but don’t see any EPL work for the foreseeable future and wasn’t getting as much EPL exposure as I wanted before the trial. Any advice on a lateral move to a bigger firm with a broader range of EPL work?

Hi! Does anyone know what kind of knowledge is needed to crack the Data Scientist interview at Google?

I'm currently working in Marketing Analytics (primarily using SQL and a bit of pyspark). Apart from mastering SQL, I wanted to know from people working at Google what does it take to get there as a Data Scientist? (I'm very interested in Strategy Ops)

I plan to another 6-8 months in preparation and upskilling myself before I even apply.
Any help and guidance is appreciated! Thanks :)
