"Referral link" vs "apply online"?

Hi all, I am in the midst of applications and I wanted to clarify something - I have had people refer me to their firm. Whilst McKinsey generated a unique link, the others have said HR told them to tell me to apply online through the generic way (Bain, BCG, S& - Middle East offices).

I'm wondering if there is something amiss or whether this is normal?

I have friends that have back office positions but never received an offer letter & their company still doesn’t use them now. Has anyone given notice & started a new position without an offer letter? Do international companies provide something else in lieu of a formal offer letter? I know offer letters aren’t legally binding anyhow, but seems they’d provide something. (International = Canada)

You can get into FAANG but remember you will become good for nothing. As when u try to switch you will have bug fixes in your resume no productivity. Beware...

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. We use Deloitte India for a number of parts of our delivery. Recently I have seen some unethical practices that violate labor laws and do not align with Deloitte principles.
