Relocating from NYC to Los Angeles for personal reasons and want to find the same big law paying job in LA. Any tips on recruiting and expected timeline to find a position? Should I start searching with NY recruiters now for relocation roles? I am a 4th year getting NYC market salary.

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

Is moving from Product management to management consulting a right move given the future growth and compensation ? How do I measure what I'm "worth" in the market? I know YOE play a role, but I don't know how to measure based on perf or whatnot. What makes one person worth more than another for the same role?

I interviewed with a company last week and the interviewer said he would submit my notes to the hiring manager and I would hear back this Monday from HR on next steps/if they want to move forward. I didn’t hear back yesterday so I emailed HR and she said she wasn’t part of the hiring decision so would reach out to the initial interviewer for his feedback. I haven’t heard from her and it’s been 24 hours - starting to get worried. What should I do? Does this mean they’re not interested?

Is an offer after only a first screener a red flag?

I’m in this business to cure my inferiority complex. Making lots of money, working with fortune 500 clients and walking the streets of NYC with a suit, tie and briefcase makes me feel important and worthy.

I often wish I could be like my law school friends who either moved to small towns or have public sector or non profit jobs, wear sweaters and jeans to work and make far less than me, but are happy with their lives, feel a sense of meaning with their work and don’t need external validation.

Worst luck ever. My group was very slow from Jan through may, so I won’t hit my hours, but am now (and will continue to be) very busy…. About to do 1990 hrs the most painful way possible. Fml.
