Say, I have bought a stock at 50, and now its at 100,

Which should be more preferred -
1) should I average it up ?
2) should I book the profit and then invest again in it ?

I went from making $70k the last 7 years to now started a new job a month ago making $130k plus $10k bonus every year, and $60k in RSUs. I have $70k in my 401k and around $50k in savings. Want to get out of the Silicon Valley which has been home my whole life and buy in TX or AZ a ~$400k house. I have about $20k in student loans which my dad has offered to pay (wants to make up for never supporting me) but I’m waiting to see what Biden decides for student loans. Is this feasible? We all know- SIP of 50k/pm for 15 years at a CAGR of 12% p.a. grows to 2.52 Crs ( approx.). BUT

Do you know- If we delay it by just 2 years- the value falls to 1.88 Cr ( approx.) Difference is a WHOPPING 64 LACS, though the difference in Investment amount is only 12 lacs!!

THATS THE POWER OF COMPOUNDING!! AS THE SAYING GOES- THE BEST DAY TO START YOUR INVESTMENT WAS YESTERDAY!! Any view is appreciated!!

We all know how inflation can derail our Retirement Planning dreams!!Though it's better to start investing as early as possible, but HEY, all is not lost even if you start little late. We all have our family responsibilities when we start our career, so "INVESTING FOR SELF" takes a back seat.
Just a perspective, even if someone at the age of 45 years starts investin for his retirement, he can decently manage the same with discipline and regular investing.
Happy to discuss with anyone on this!!

Nifty reaching ATH but portfolio still at low 🥲

Hello Fishes,

I am new to the investing world. I have invested some 80k in Nifty fifty index funds. I wanted to increase my investment in other MFs and stocks.

Can you advise how to start it considering short term and long term financial goals.

Short term goals - like for 2-3 years

Long term goals - like for 5-6+ years or more depending upon the performance

I have seen multiple you tube videos but seems to get confused on how to start and which funds to pick.

Thank you!
