Pros: if you negotiate your pay package to include a percentage on the cases you work on, there isn’t really a ceiling to the money you can make; depending on your market and firm, you can have much better WLB; no billable requirements.
Cons: there are a lot of shitty firms that are mills (especially in some places like Southern California).
Overall I haven’t met anyone that switched from defense to plaintiffs side who wasn’t happy with their choice.
Rising Star
Depends on your experience, how much business you can generate and the size of the firm. My first year was 1% of the net attorney’s fees on all cases I worked on, and 33% on all cases I brought in.
