Should I feel offended, thankful, both? Very senior creative job. Just navigated months of phone interviews, out of dozens of candidates I made the final 3 flown in for more/multiple interviews (cont)

Every waking moment of yours right now should be spent on getting a counter offer, fast. Reach out to places that move quickly on new hires. Then let them know the clock is ticking.

...and gave a full blown presentation on a specific assignment, learned I’m THE top choice coming out of all that—-but now they want to “make sure” & interview a few more candidates who’ve popped up out of nowhere. Their prerogative, important job, I’m grateful and thankful to make it this far, totally get it. BUT, I’m also a little 🖕🏽because I’ve busted my ass under the strict parameters of the pretty grueling process, was told I’ve “won” when the dust settled months later...only to find out they like me best BUT want to keep “watching the door to make sure someone hotter doesn’t walk into the bar” so to speak. I’m grateful to still be alive, been unemployed for a bit so please don’t think I’m whining about a good opp...but I’m also a little insulted, like, “If I’ve done so well why are you now seemingly trying to hire ANYONE BUT me? What’s a girl/guy have to do to prove I’m the right hire even after, well, already apparently proving it based on YOUR process?”

This place sounds like a fucking mess. Definitely a red flag my friend. Imagine what they would do to your concepts.

Seems like a shit show, honestly. Who puts people thru months of a hiring process only to do something like that? I hope you can get another offer so you can say fuck those guys...

Whatever you do, you need to level set first. We usually don’t make wise decision during our “bloody eye” moments

If they offer you a job I would recommend you declined it. If this is how they treat you when they are recruiting you, imagine how they would treat you when they own you

Agree. I’m inclined to tell them to beat it regardless.

What is this place? Readers want to know. I want to know.

Exactly, because no matter what now, anyone after me will be seen as “newer and fresher”...and the “keeping the door open for someone better to walk in” thing is just my interpretation and feeling, they didn’t exactly say that, but that certainly what this feels like.

I'd use this to get a new job offer. Then decline theirs officially with, "Sorry something hot and new walked in the door."

Ha I’d love that but right now there’s nothing out there that’s THIS far down the line except one thing getting a little closer...🤞🏽
