Don’t they have “staff attorney” or “attorney” in their sig blocks?

likefunny

No.

They wouldn’t have an associate title on their bio

like

They probably aren’t on the firm’s page if they’re a staff attorney.

Respectfully, why does it matter?

Ugh. 6 months of straight doc review is enough to make anyone want to get a job pumping out septic systems. Yecch.

I would encourage your friend to go to the partner and be polite but blunt. “I understand that some important tasks are less interesting than others but I’d really like some variety in my day to day. Steady doc review is killing me. Can we work some other responsibilities into the mix, please.” In person is better than in writing, because your friend gets to see the nonverbal part of the response. If the verbal and nonverbal, taken together, equal something like “I know you’ve had a slow slog and I’m sorry it’s been that way. I’ll try to get you some other projects soon and when the doc review ends we won’t task you with that again for at least a bit,” then your friend should probably stick it out. If it’s anything else your friend should start looking.

Odd question. Why?

I replied with more info to Teacher 1. Basically, I’m concerned with how a friend is being treated at their new job.

What is a staff attorney? Someone that does grunt work for less pay?

Sounds horrible. Good luck with your friends situation

I am selling house and remodeling both master bath and kids bath. Got quote for 29k for both and I buy floors and cabinets.question is I have a very big whirlpool tub and tiles around it discolored. It’s a hassle to lift it up change the tiles and fixtures and put it back. It’s old but works great. Remodeling ppl recommend get rid of it, give space to buyers if they want to buy standalone tub. I thought it adds value to have whirlpool tub. But can’t even change fixture. Should I get rid of it?

I’m excited for my wedding but it’s almost 9 months away and I started planning it over a year ago. However, whenever I’m around friends/family it’s the only thing people want to talk to me about. It’s constant and generally there’s not many updates to give & I’d just rather talk about other things. I work full time & I’m in school right now so I’m stressed about those things and I don’t know how to communicate that I’d just rather not talk about the wedding without sounding ungrateful/happy

Thoughts on kindly asking your bridesmaids to please not give a gift? I am over the moon excited that my bridesmaids will be celebrating me and traveling for the wedding and bachelorette. I really do not want a gift from them at the wedding. Full disclosure, my fiancé and I have great paying jobs and my bridesmaids are grad students, artists, and teachers. How would you frame this? Even if they were millionaires I would not want a gift, but I don’t want it taken the wrong way.

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!
