Does anyone have experience interviewing with Deloitte Internal Services? I had my final interview a week and a half ago, and received positive feedback throughout. The hiring manager had positive things to say and mentioned they hoped to make a decision by the end of last week. It’s now Friday the week after. The role still shows as “Interviews in Process.” We did discuss potential start dates, but no salary. Any experience with receiving offers for an internal services role? Is this common?

Doing the bare minimum is exactly how you become partner
High performers either burn out or exit to better jobs
People who make it to partner are the ones that last longer but definitely not the smartest
I am seven years in and I feel so weird with how unmotivated I am as well
Have you done anything to get motivated again?
You sound like you need a long vacation or need to find a new gig that brings back that vigor. There’s nothing wrong with it, it happens to all of us.
I feel the same way, but can’t even switch jobs because I’m on a visa and waiting for green card 😟 I’d personally look for counseling or a career coach to help you figure out what is it that you want to do and then go from there. Hang in there 💪
I hear you, you could try to switch to a different group within EY. A little change might help if the reason behind it is the work isn’t as interesting anymore
It got to a point where I have no desire to try anything different. I just don't want to do anything workwise. I don't think it's depression because when I enjoy my hobbies, I am so energized and full of life.
Do you feel passionate about anything workwise these days or it all feels lost?
Where you excited about the opportunities you were applying for in industry?
All feels lost. When I am searching/applying for industry jobs I get a bit excited but it's all momentary and soon disappears especially with unsuccessful outcomes.

If you were on the partner track, wouldn't you know it by now?

Tough to say. I'm in a small enough local office that I could be on it simply due to a lack of other options.
Not saying you're thinking of it wrong but considering approaching it with the goal of making the next tier/title/position... Partner is probably 9 years out from you so you need to focus on more immediate goals to trigger that focus/success feeling... Just my 2 cents though (10 years in)

I have the fire in me, but am only at 5 yrs. Step 1 is setting firm boundaries and not working busy season year round- that's the minimum you need. Then spend more time with family and friends. This will make you appreciate your job more! Then once you have more time doing things you love you will generally be happy, and you can pay it forward by training up the next generation at your firm. Training up new people and befriending them is my passion and what motivates me at work. When I build efficiencies, send work overseas, have long discussions about boring accounting topics, I know if will make their busy season easier and allow them to have a bit of that balance as well. Full disclosure I'm actually a bit burnt out from doing so much value add at the salary I'm making, but am working on it! (either job change or toning down my effort to something more commensurate with my salary)
Been there...maybe not that low but I had to do a lot of time reading inspirational career stories or books and soul searching to help define what my next goal would be. When you have a goal that you care about and it's more long term/aspirational, the fire comes back.
Honestly that Grit book EY sent us last year helped a lot
