Accenture. Don't join Slalom. Trust me, you're much better off just putting up with whatever you're going through until you climb the ranks.
Nope. No tuition reimbursement at all. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
SM1 - Did you join them prior? Or hear of bad experiences from former colleagues?
I hear great things Slalom, but it kinds seems like it's the stop where you get off the consulting train. Less challenging projects, less growth, greater work life balance, more chill colleagues/clients
Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, depends on what you want out of the job. I myself have considered exiting to Slalom a little further down the road
@op. Whether slalom is good or bad for you depends on what you want to do.
Depending on your group...i feel that slalom can at times feel like a body shop. Now mind you...sometimes you are the right hand person to an svp or c level exec. But a lot of the time you are doing mindless work.
That being said...there is cool work being done in some offices.
My rule of thumb is if you are tired of consulting life, want 40 hr works weeks, with some ppting work, and BD work here and there then we are a good spot.
lol definitely not the case in Chicago. Good luck!
C1 - shoot...:(
SM1 - why?
No MBA reimbursement. There's a training budget, but that's more for conferences and trainings.
SC3 - Better than industry options?
Its really about where you want to go. Im senior enough in my career where vp positions that are 1-2 levels below c level are possible. So for me industry looks nice.
All really matters what you want from life professionally. Is work a big part of your life
I should add that i like client service so consulting firms are what i enjoy, but industry starts to look better as you get more experience.
SC3 - I would say it is, but my family life is equally as Important to me. I want to opportunity to have real upward mobility or have ownership at some point maybe in a smaller organization. I am aiming to earn 200k+ - doesn’t have to be in the next couple years, but I want to be getting closer to that every year. I don’t want to be making any less than than by 40 (in 7 years), but I also don’t want to travel every week. I don’t mind traveling just not every week. And of course be interested in what I’m doing and the ability to have an impact and start to develop a mastery around something - which I’m not sure what yet!
