That is interesting. I know we make our nut on the kids in terms of margins. It may be that more senior folks are seen as more valuable assets from a knowledge capital perspective
Junior staff is way more replaceable and why would upper management punish themselves?
More to the point: missing plan=poor sales=poor utilization=excess capacity. You fix that by increasing sales and/or trimming capacity. It's business.
Arrogance at the top
Ya I get that that is business and there are risks to working in consulting but I feel like there is a lot of "trimming the fat " talk about the layoffs - management made missteps as well and honestly they should feel the pain too
They *might* feel the pain this way. If they act as such and then cannot recruit the best talent. It's a longer but also more impactful result for them
They are owners of the business. Of course they feel the pain if they miss their targets - they make less profit and their shares are worth incrementally less. They would love to keep everyone they hired instead of wasting the investment of recruiting and training.
GM does not have revenues (atleast this is what I was told) not sure what they mean by missed the bottom line. GM practitioners are loaned to other service lines and the revenues attributed to GMers when on projects goes to the the service line the project was in ...
