So I boomeranged back to PwC after 2 years away and 2 layoffs. I took a role that I knew would be a soft landing and allow me to rebuild confidence even if it wasn’t my long term ambition. Successfully rebuilt confidence and was promoted to SM within a year. But now I’m not being challenged and have that ‘grass is greener’ feeling. I feel like a hard internal pivot is going to piss people off as much as if I left to a competitor. How do I play this ?

Is it the smart move to take a pay cut and clerk for a judge?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.

Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. I don’t have any interest in accounting and Primarily work on and enjoy improving processes at my company and am thinking about trying to do some type of process improvement consulting for financial service firms.
