So, I do some side gigs on the weekends, working at local craft or art shows. I've noticed an increased number of vendors pushing AI 'art.' Should this type of AI work be allowed at these events? These are supposed to be events for local artists, and now anyone with a printer and WiFi can just show up and push their AI slop?

Shouldn't be allowed.

That’s tough. There are legitimate arguments being made that even AI art can still be art depending on the process and inputs used. But it can also not be art if it’s just click and print. I definitely think that there should be separate craft fairs or areas that make people completely aware of what they are looking at and buying.

It shouldn’t be. I’m against AI for the most part, at least in the ways that it has been implemented. However, I can understand a mall kiosk with art or something. Craft or art shows should be untouched though because the purpose of those is to showcase people’s work and help them gain sales/customer base/following. AI art is taking away opportunity from the real talent in these places.

Been asked by a client to apply for a GS14 term position but I have a few questions/concerns.
1. Current salary is 140K with ~10K variable comp. If I wanted to at least match, it would require me to be in Step 5/6— is that possible/likely or would I have to start at Step 1?
2. How often have you seen term positions converted to permanent? I’m considering turning this offer down due to this.

Clawback clause in current contract: been in role for over 2 yrs, it was an internal move that required relocation. Relocation was approved shortly after (over 2 yrs ago) but covid meant the actual move and start of my contract with new subsidiary was delayed, I was paid by the previous subsidiary meanwhile. I got small relocation package. Would internal move be subject to a buy-out/clawback clause if I leave now and if yes, is it time in role or time under new contract? Any experience? Thanks!

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? It seems like the larger chain stores would have more downtime, but I'm wondering if anyone could give some input.
