Hello fishes,
I have a background in finance and 6+ YOE of professional work experience, I had to leave CA in between due to family emergency and started working (although only 1 group of CA final is left, 1 is cleared already), so can anyone provide an insight if being CA qualified is a mandatory requirement in EY and EY GDS in position of Manager in Accounting, auditing,FAAS,AWM teams etc
Would appreciate any insight, as seems HR everywhere just see degree and not the relevant work ex..

I'm sorry. I can't imagine how stressful and demoralizing that must be. Unfortunately I think you're probably right - this reads to me like a PIP with extra steps. I'd be trying to find something new ASAP.
That’s what I’m doing. It did took some toll on mental health. Even if I have made mistakes and not a perfect fit for the job, no one deserves this
Unlike all the rest, I do not feel sorry for you. I think you have found yourself in a quite actionable position to not only improve your life, but to put a stigma on the company that is doing this to you do what is right do not back down.
Honestly, I feel like it will cost more than it brings, and even now, the second day into the weekend my intuition just screams RUN
Beware! I had the same thing happen. Did the job to the satisfaction of the direct boss but the higher boss started picking on everything I did. They started micromanaging everything I did. always got "Appreciate your efforts, BUT...you should have done it this way, or included this." Just a way to document your termination. I suggest milking it just long enough to find another job, trust me.
I’m sorry 😞 it sounds very similar to mine. It’s like my direct boss and my resource manager are living on different planets. The latter one just tries to find a flaw in everything I am doing. I have my estimates for the project which everyone agrees with and I never missed a day. But in the last meeting the narrative becomes “we are late with this project”. Wtf why? That was new. Honestly after this I get a feeling they messed up with planning and trying to find someone to cover themselves up. Because I saw it was unrealistic plan from the very beginning tbh but I was basically told to “shut up and do my job”
Start applying like crazy. Never quit. Make them do it so you can apply for unemployment. Basically you’ve been PIPed. It’s almost impossible to come back from that.
I agree with you. I rarely look for a problem in anyone but myself first but support was almost fully missing as opposed to judgement 🙈
I’m comparing my output, the code reviews I’m getting and the things I’ve actually delivered to my team mates at the same level who have actually been there for years. I don’t see how or why I don’t compare. I’ve been doing the same in my first months. But it just feels that they’re looking for a reason to make me fail. If I do well in 9 cases out of 10 but then make one mistake, it becomes a narrative like “you’re not meeting expectations for your level”. Why didn’t they just fire me then. It’s honestly humiliating and demoralising. What are they trying to do??
I do feel being gaslighted but I just don’t understand why would someone here want to do it, like for what
READ THE ROOM.
They are telling to leave on your own to avoid a possible lawsuit you might bring against them in the wake of them firing you for cause. More likely than not you are an "employee at will" so both of you are free to part ways with little or no notice. The other advantage to the employer is that if you leave on your own because you have a firm written offer in hand from another employer, is they avoid possibly having their STATE Tax Unemployment contribution of let’s say 1% to 2% jumping to 3% -4% with EACH weekly payroll for years to come. Another thing you may have experienced in this period of time is regular calls from headhunters. Please do not flatter yourself. In my experience, I learned from a headhunter after getting a job with a new employer, that his/her firm was encouraged by your current employer to "assist" you in your search. In which case the head hunter's firm will earn a fee as a % of your new salary from the new employer, but also as a % of your former employer's salary previously paid to you. This is all justified as a win-win-win for all involved. Do not tarry, get the new employer's offer in writing (BTW, no real guarantee there) with a firm starting date for training etc.
Finally accept the inevitable, READ THE ROOM your current employer does not want you as an employee. Good luck!
I’m not sure I understand sorry 🙈
I'm going through the same thing. Happened Friday. I was so confused and angry. I'm told by people I do a great job, then get pulled into a meeting and put back on probation. I know for sure it's the "manager" on my team. She purposely didn't post invoices for months which I need to do my job. Finally got them and here we are. I'm looking for a job. She is close friends with the HR Supervisor so this is a set up for failure. Hope I find something fast.
Hope it works for you.
I just don’t understand WHY they would bully someone who is doing their job well and performing at the equal level. They hired me for that. I didn’t do anyone any wrong here and I am sure neither did you. But this “manager” who isn’t even part of my team comes in every week to our 121 with blame and negativity about my work. And I feel like he gets disappointed when I do my work well and there’s nothing to pick up. And then he starts inventing things like “but this project is late”. Although I gave my ETA in my part months ago and they were fully ok with it. I never missed a day. What’s shocking, 2 other engineers were gone on the same probation period as me. One of them quit it voluntarily. Now I am starting to guess something. To be clear, it was 5 rounds of tough interviews to get this job. But I never felt they really wanted me, I am still puzzled why hire then
Put the company on probation yourself, by documenting everything and resume your job search. Micromanagement are not leaders, they are a$$ kisses. But their days are numbered.
This! Exactly this. That's why I even brought it to HR (I realize they aren't our friends, but at least it makes the manager nervous, too). I always ask why a million questions and why I can't be trusted to get the stuff done - like I always do. I'm always complimented by everyone, including external parties, so I don't know why my manager feels the need to micromanage the way she does.

You can and declare unemployment
For the time being.
But the only thing is;
You’d have to document everything;
So that Your case could not be refuted by the U.I arbitration personnel
What makes it worse, I am on a work visa with them so if I don’t find another employer I’d be kicked out of the country in 60 days once this one is cancelled… I am not protected by government laws most probably at this time
Sounds like you need to leave while it's on your own terms. And while 2 weeks notice was customary earlier in my career, now if people do give a resignation letter they are dismissed immediately. All the best to you in your search!
Thank you. I so want to do it but it will trigger my visa clock immediately so I need to win time as much. I have accumulated paid leave-a couple weeks. Maybe some sick leave? They can still dismiss me while on it?
Start seeking other employment ASAP!!! I went through that with my last job. They finally tried to fire me over something that was fixable. I resigned from the position. Now EEOC has given me the okay to sue them for retaliation. Good luck.
I have a few companies in the process. Just moving slow and no results yet (we are half way). I fixed every small mistake I made and none happened again although I see everyone else is making them at times. Usually I’d blame all on myself but I’m going in circles in my head day and night and don’t see how what they’re doing is fair
That really does sound like a toxic environment — and no one deserves to work under that kind of pressure. To protect your confidence and self-esteem, I’d really encourage you to start applying for other roles. Taking that positive step can help you feel more in control and put everything into perspective.
You don’t owe this company anything — and what you're describing sounds more like micromanagement and bullying than support or development. Don’t let them wear you down. You’re capable, and you deserve better.
I have started applying and have a few in the pipeline. Some quite far in the process. Even if those don’t work out it’s still a good sign that my skills are still wanted. Honestly it’s been 2 weekend days, and I only stopped shaking now. And I start shaking every night before a morning weekly 121 and then it takes me half a day to recover from it. Even if my work was so below standard (which it’s honestly not by the mere evidence that my pull requests are being approved with little to no rework and I deliver something working daily), this is not the way to say it. He literally said you’re so stressed and overworked because of your abilities which are below our standards for the role. Excuse me? No one ever told me that even in my most junior years. So toxic is a very soft term here.
I say this from experience - Once you become a target, you can never do anything right. Best to line up another job. When you do, I recommend you quit at the close of the business day of what you intend to be your last day. Don’t give notice because they usually won’t pay you.
I really agree with the target 🎯 thing. I haven been feeling like that for months now and it doesn’t really depend on how much I do or how well I work… I feel like whatever I do isn’t good enough. They’re obligated to pay me - by contract and law though…
It's time to call a lawyer
I’ve been n a similar position. I suggest seeing if HR will work with you on a separation agreement. it should be
a mutual parting of ways to what has become a hostile / toxic work environment. I would negotiate separation pay and also have them agree to you collect unemployment. they may not work with you and you will need to hire an attorney but I would try working with HR and also employee relations. Good luck.
Thank you for advice. I’m not eligible for public funds on my work visa so unemployment won’t do anything I am afraid…
Sorry you are going through that. I’ve had that happen to me. It took a while, but as soon as they happened I started looking elsewhere. Finally at s place where I feel valued. Good luck to you
I have started looking - as the next days and weeks their narrative has been becoming worse and worse about me no matter what I do and how hard I work.
Even when I am ahead of my deadlines. My manager looks upset when there is nothing to pick up on. The problem is, I am so burnt out that I am not at my best at the interviews l. So I’m struggling to work here and keep searching and preparing for interviews at the same time

People are so judgemental and cruel to each other. Usually to make themselves look better. It's sad you have to work 10 x's harder to make up for a mistake. Recognition for achievements come too far few and in between anymore. Hope you have a better week and the smoke blows over. I'm rooting for ya.
It made me want to go back into management and start applying for some leadership jobs although I abandoned that path a couple years ago. To not let people like this hurt other people at least in my new workplace. Recognition and achievement have always come with a “but” here. Like, your communication improved but… you didn’t respond to that email fast enough. delivery improved but… you introduced that little bug remember? Thank you for your words of support. I’m thinking of giving them notice regardless whether I found something. It’s not a CV / job concern, it’s truly becoming a mental health one.
It's common for mgmt to make up reasons to fire ppl to meet attrition quotas. It's all about the bottom line and unfortunately your employer doesn't care about you (or any of us).
I feel like nothing adds up. Yes I made mistakes but it was a new field and I didn’t make more than anyone else would on probation. There engineering docs say don’t expect much of new hires in the first 3 months-but I was already flagged and criticised on month 2. Now after two weekend days my mind has cleared, and I see that as my project for Q2 is coming to an end the managers narrative kind of is getting worse for no reason. I am walking into every 121 knowing I have been doing well and haven’t done anything wrong but at the same time not knowing what to expect like what else will he blame me of? It was the way I speak in meetings when he had nothing to say, can you imagine? Spoke on the standup for 10 seconds longer and jeopardised efficiency. This was for real.
Sounds like another term for "Performance Improvement Plan", aka a death sentence.
I guess I posted here to be re-assured that I am not imagining it. I am quite an anxious individual generally and always overthinking a lot, so I needed to hear some unbiased side opinions to really be sure that to give me another chance is the last thing they want.
The market is abysmal. Find a new job first.
I know but I also find it very difficult to show up as the best version of myself and all glowing for the interviews while being run down and verbally abused every other day 🙈
