Big mood. 😴
I see several posts from people asking how they can help during these times with a few extra $$$ to spend. Here is just one of many ideas.
www.stepuptothetable.com
#stepuptothetable is about helping local restaurants who are struggling during these times. I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. A great way for those of us who are more fortunate to support business & keep people employed.
Is it pronounced “data” or “data?” 🧐

I imagine the majority feel like you but are just shocked by your honesty. My job is fine.. I'm good at it, I get recognized, I'm paid well.. but I don't wake up excited to go to work everyday. I know there are people out there who have careers like that but it's unlikely to happen for me.
However.. when people ask about work I just say "it's fine." or "it's busy." because I have found that most people are just trying to make conversation.
Same and I appreciate when others are honest! A stranger just yesterday told me they hate their job and I found it refreshing.
Depends on what you do. A carpenter that I know would agree to the notion of a dream job because they are happy with what they are doing, they are skillful and have their business that makes them money. But, a Payroll Admin in my company probably does not share the same vibe.
I don't. but also i think this message being pushed to everyone that you should love your job is not good. Not everyone will be successful as an IG influencer or a musician or whatever passion they pursue. Should you explore it? absolutely. But at some point should probably get a job that actually pays your bills so you don't end up only relying on social security payments when you're old. if everyone loved the job they did would we have trash men, coal miners, plumbers, lawncare crews? if we did they'd probably be scarce
Exactly.
Lifestyle funded here as well, but as far as satisfaction…that’s a big nope. When people ask how work is going I tell them the truth (I hate it, I’ve hated it since day 1, and no sign of improvement 4 years later).
The best thing I could do to set myself up for a future dream job would be leaving suburbia, buying house/land in the country and begin building up good soil and a few hoop houses…I want to grow food and sell through a CSA or farmers market when I retire.
Only if you plan on moving out of the country
I used to be a teacher - which was my dream job. It led to insane burn out in under 4 years (with terrible pay as the cherry on top) because I was obsessed with my job and always doing more. I transitioned to marketing and I feel extremely neutral about it, and I like that. Like, I’m eager for the weekend but I’m also not miserable on Sunday nights… if that makes sense.
I found that there’s usually two types of people that go into teaching. 1) the person that really wanted to be an educator. 2) the person who played around in college and couldn’t find a job in their field.
Person 1 really needs to be paid better.

Personally, to be able to dream means you are able to sleep. No sleep for me as I live with my wife, daughter, mother-in-law, 2 cats and 3 fish 😭😭😭
I'd love to be retired. The only thing stopping me is that I like my current lifestyle and don't want to dial it back too much
I hate my job. I hate it every day, weekends included. It's a paycheck, nothing more. Dream job? Not really, I just want to have a little land and tinker with things. Old motorcycles, some trees, brew some beer. Goofed up doing the house/wife thing and now there's a spawn on the way. Back to work tomorrow and I can't even quit. 😁

No but I have enough tact to answer polite conversation questions in kind…not drop hard truth bombs…keep it light if you want them to be nice. Most likely the questioner doesn’t really care and is just asking to be polite. A simple “it’s going great” is all that’s required to move on to the next thing in life.
Then don’t ask stupid questions. My job is going the same way most other people’s is.
