I agree with you. It's called a break for a reason and last I checked breaks have no type of restrictions on what you can and can't do during that time. Sounds like your co workers are hating.
Y’all get lunch breaks?!
BACK TO WORK KPMG
Lunch breaks are your time. The only thing I’d say is make it clear you’re on your lunch so people don’t think you’re playing games while you’re supposed to be working. And I’d assume any game sounds would be silenced so as not to disturb others.
We don't really get lunch breaks. We eat 16.99 salads and $8 lattes in front of our laptops on zoom calls
If you’ve got meetings all day that sucks but it’s required🤷♂️ If there’s time though I don’t see why a break shouldn’t be a break…

Lol there is a whole group of us at the office that break out our gaming laptops at lunchtime and throw down for a few matches of whatever the game of the week is. We are all in our 30s and 40s. Most have kids. It’s the only time they get to game and it’s a great way to build community
Sounds like a blast!…are you guys accepting new positions?
If we are working in a conference room, I ask people to go to break room/pantry for their lunch break to minimize distractions to other. I play games on my break so I don’t mind others doing it.
Considering now many apps pay out for playing games, joke's on them. For all they know you could be earning a few extra $ during lunch. They should mind their business and stop gossiping because that isn't very professional itself.
I could care less what anyone thinks about what I do on my non work time. They don’t own your life. Do as you please.
I don't care but some do. This is a good example where what is ideal may not match with one's reality. And in some realities, perception is important. That said, if you ever have to apply a lot effort to manage your perception somewhere, that's a signal it's not a healthy place. Hyper judgemental people are some of the most toxic and difficult to work with.
That’s true, I’d like the environment to be less judgemental so might as well keep doing what I’m doing and find something else if it’s an issue.
I know a lot of people who take quick naps during their break
That would be fantastic, if I took a nap at work though I wouldn’t be up until the next day…
As long as you're not using a program that isn't allowed on your work computer or playing a game with imagery inappropriate for work that others can see. For example, we can't download Steam.
Haha, yeah not on the work computer, as handy as that would be I get all the trouble that could cause
I once had a contract with a “duty free lunch” clause. And I took full advantage of almost every minute every day!
A break is a break. You can do what you want in your own time.
Hang a sign that says "out to lunch".
