Wait a second, I'm a little bit confused. Isn't sick time specifically for illness? What else would we be using sick time for?

No sick times? Only pto is crazy!
Good lord. Grow up!

Umm we know we are all grown here and we do not have to put up with head people who normally don’t have kids or either have grown kids and don’t have to worry about having sick kids.
The whole point of sick time is to use it for “medical reasons.” Now, a lot of us aren’t lucky enough to have sick time…
It’s seems most companies ( including mine ) have moved away from specific sick time as vacation time to using PTO. PTO is for sick or vacation time now.
When the time off was changed to PTO at the company it seemed like they thought people were too dumb to figure out which type of time off to use for what (came across this way due to how they explained it to the employees- I’m sure there could be a situation where it could be confusing depending on what the situation was). The more tenured employees didn’t get as much PTO in comparison to what it was changed from. This would’ve been the equivalent to about a calendar week (or close to it) of time off.
Most of my life I worked for mom and pop company and got 5 days of vacation per year. Nothing else. I think sick time and PTO are more than a person needs to ask for.
Small businesses don't have the means to do more. I work in the corporate world now and the first year I accrued 20+ days of PTO and was shocked. Never had that before.
I prefer it all being PTO now. Found a lot of places made sick time near impossible to take, so we’d just submit PTO anyway. I know everywhere is different, but that’s been my experience. Curious if others find it easier without “sick time”.
It’s ridiculous the sick time gets put into a bank that they made even harder to use than before when they switched to PTO (of course the new PTO can be used as sick time, since the previous vacation and sick time off are combined). Same with not getting all your earned time off paid out when you leave (involuntarily/voluntarily).
I prefer all time off to be pto because you can use it for what ever you want. Sick time is only for that. Unused PTO is usually paid out when you leave where sick time is not.
