I have a game I love to play at the airport. I find someone who has the most vague resemblance to someone famous and then insist they are that person.

Like "Oh my God, you're Tom Hanks! I love so many of your movies and I think you are great and so funny in interviews. How are you feeling? I heard you had covid?"

Guy who very very vaguely resembles Tom Hanks insists he isn't. Then I keep insisting he is.

This is a fun way to pass time during layovers.

I have been interviewing at a company that I have wanted to work at since I was in undergrad. The issue is that they can’t offer me much more than I’m currently making, but they focus on family and making it affordable to have kids (I’m currently pregnant.) Yes, they know.

Is it worth the change in jobs for a little tiny pay increase (or same wage) but WAY better maternity leave and benefits? I currently only get 4 weeks paid at my current job for maternity leave w/ crappy insurance.

I can’t even get an interview outside of the insurance industry. I have 2.5 years experience in insurance, before that I was in restaurant management.

When I was a device driver developer with 2 years relevant experience I had got calls from Nvidia and Qualcomm. Unfortunately I wasn't able to crack the interviews back then.

For next 5 years I worked mostly on application development and broadening my exposure. I am not getting even a single call from such companies now.

Is it a good idea to rebrand myself as a device driver developer so that I can get calls again?

Interviewing with a small (50 people) boutique firm in a management position. They are in an industry I have 10 years of experience plus I have 5 years management consulting experience in B4 firm. Assuming the pay and potential bonus are reasonable what kind of challenges would I be in for? I'm a fresher and I recently joined one of the big4 as a senior analyst.
I am given sap as my competency, but honestly I'm not finding it interesting. I was hoping to shift to data analytics(python, sql, etl, powerbi, advanced excel... Working with these techs).
I have knowledge in python and sql. I also have some development skills, reactjs and stuff(not relevant to data analytics).
Should I increase my skill set before starting to apply to other firms?

For anyone who is burnt out and looking to leave big law and go to a midsize, do your research. I was one of those people and I can tell you the grass is NOT greener on the other side. It’s a myth. In retrospect, I should’ve stayed and set better boundaries and not have taken this 35% pay cut.
