T2, 5.5yoe, no MBA, 220-250k total comp

realistically 1+ year or so from M1, where i’ll hit 300k total comp

industry offer for basically same pay as now - corp strat, industry i focus in, what would you do?

very average performer and getting sick of the hours, would leave after M1 promotion anyways, no interest in being a partner.

Unless you have reason to believe that you’d get significantly better opportunities pretty much immediately after making M that aren’t available to you now, i’d say go.

Cheers to you. 50-80k is certainly not negligible, but at your comp range you probably are already feeling comfortable financially. Good opps like the one you’re being offered are hard to come by at the moment. Godspeed in whatever choice you make!

Seems like you have made up your mind. Only thing to consider is potential different compensation track.

I did similar when I was at your YOE. Lateral comp to industry but with slower comp growth. No regrets. Would much rather be home then in idaho against my will

1) are you joining at Director level? Is it a true ex-manager exit? Joining as Assistant Director/Sr manager often means you need a big promotion to get a decent raise
2) do you like the company and industry? You might not get a more senior exit as M but you might join a higher quality org

I joined a low quality F500 as a senior manager when I was a sr analyst in consulting (in 2022...). Good money but wasn't the best move overall

I’m 25 and I have this itch to move to a completely new city. I love my city and just bought a house there but I just have this weird feeling I should be somewhere else. I’ve lived in my city for my whole life except for college (which was only 3 hours away). It seems weird and random to up and leave especially after just buying a house. Would love to hear anyone else’s thoughts/experiences!

I have an offer from MindTree. DoJ was 21 Sep but was not getting relieving from current company. Hence requested to give a revised DoJ (1month extension). However, there are no documents and they will revise it internally in the system. How can I prove this to MindTree?

Friends, need some feedback on an idea:

I’m thinking of starting a podcast interviewing leaders at startups about their experience with specific challenges - I know, cliche, get a more original hobby, etc.

Not looking for the narrative arc of How I Built This or Masters of Scale. Instead, looking to uncover specific problems faced by companies that tried something new for the first time. What did they not see coming, how did they adapt and measure, etc.

What are your thoughts on this format?

Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.

What do you think?

I want to be proud and confident about this but could use some moral support.
