Always text. I prefer to avoid ever putting myself in a position where HR is coming at me with receipts.
On a call? Sure.
Over messaging? Maybe not.

TALKING trash would be way more fun. Taking trash out in real-time with your partner on-screen sounds pretty lame.
Nothing you do on a company device is truly confidential. Harmless griping is probably fine, anything beyond that should happen on a personal device and over a platform your employer has no control of.
Probably fine. Just don’t talk shit about someone who has the power to fire you
While quite an extreme example, this was a good reminder to not do this over company messaging platforms...

WK1 it was...wild. And a lesson about company messaging I won't soon forget
Yeah that isn't private. Not counting the risk of sending something in the wrong chat, it only takes one petty person in management to pull those chats. Stick to text.
Move it to text
Yep. IT can read it
IT is too busy fixing locked laptop passwords.
The company owns those messages, but spill as much tea as you like over voice

Text or DM each other the trash talk.

I never say anything about anyone over teams that I wouldn’t say to their face.
However I’m often willing to say a lot of shit to peoples faces so maybe don’t listen to me
Not through company tools. Experienced a whole group of creatives being fired in one day when their highly inappropriate and vulgar messages about other staff and owners were leaked.
Not great- we switch to text for this usually
