Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

If you don’t start where you want to be, you’ll never catch up to it. Because you won’t get a raise at a WPP shop for years.
WPP will NEVER, ever, match your number. In negotiations, promotions, raises, etc. they are extremely cheap. I speak from experience but also think about it: they won’t pay you now, how is that any indication they would later?
Spoiler alert. They definitely won’t pay you later.
If they won’t meet your number, forget them.

Believe me when I say they’re probably bluffing. WPP makes it hard, especially if that 5k puts you over your salary band, but if they want you, they’ll do it. I’d keep pushing if the 5k means a lot to you.
I’m the long run, 5k is nothing. Think more about opportunities and connections.
In a coastal city that’s notoriously painfully expensive so 5k sadly makes a big diff at my level😢
If you are willing to walk away there is no risk. You simply state your number and say, “For me to be able to accept your offer, this is my minimum. It can be any combination of salary, bonus, allowances—whatever works. But that’s as low as I can go.”
Pass. At AE or SAE level $5k makes no difference to them and a lot to you. You’re definitely never getting a raise, and even with a promotion the salary increase will be offensively bad. Don’t start out disappointed, it will only get worse from there.
They can definitely match it but it really depends on the position you're applying for. If it's higher up the channel it's merely peanuts to them. They make a lot of money. If it the case I would push for it.
